I just signed up for this poetry workshop!

A Northwest Renaissance Poetry / Creative Writing Workshop with Michael Daley

Author of Moonlight in the Redemptive Forest, To Curve, Way Out There:

Lyrical Essays, The Straits, and others. His books will be available for purchase.

10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24

The Kent Historical Museum, Bereiter House, 855 E. Smith Street

Kent, WA – Phone: 253-856-5185

Cost: $35 includes a light lunch

The day’s work will include guided imagery exercises to generate poetry and prose

responses, an introduction to Basho, and exercises in haibun, which combines brief

lyrical essays with haiku-esque poems –– a collaboration that enlarges and illuminates

what Daley describes as “the branching of our thought.”

Workshop participants are asked to bring 12 copies of a favorite poem of no more than

15 lines for discussion and as springboards to new writing.

Monthly Storytelling sponsored by South Sound Story Guild

Featured Storyteller Stet Palmer on Wednesday September14, 2011 at 7 pm

From September to June, on the second Wednesday of each month, we gather from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.

For now, you’ll find us in the South Lobby at the Olympia Center, 222 Columbia Street NW, in downtown Olympia.

On these second Wednesdays, a different storyteller each month will put together a 30- to 45-minute program to share with us. After a few announcements, other Guild members and brave visitors will have an opportunity to share stories for the rest of the evening.
