wow, where is the time going? It’s going to tearing out my son’s bathroom, tiling the floor and getting the ADA shower pan in….

Shower Stall…fiberglass itch

that fiberglass is so itchy!  Finally cut down each corner with the reciprocating saw and across the top/side flanges with skill saw…

back wall gone

I itched for days even though I had a hat on, long sleeves, face mask, safety glasses!

attacking the bathroom vanity shelf section

painted the bathroom walls to kill the prior color…

aha, took out the toilet myself. linoleum and particle board base gone!

Tile backing board down

next to seal it with pink goop – smelly!

half way done – waiting for the shower pan to be installed by contractor before finishing the backing board.

barrier free shower pan

tile floor done… cleaver use of white rope tile. we had tiled the back area first… then when we went to tile the rest after the shower pan was installed…. ahhhhh, the lay out would have left an inch for narrow cut tiles in front of the pan lip.  Marlene had brought her spare rope tile for an accent around the range top back splash but they came in handy for this slight problem.

close up of the rope border

and finally finished – ta Dah!

bathroom floor tiled

I grouted Monday night and it looks great.

The Corien counter top was re-installed – a much better fit… Still waiting for the back ordered kitchen sink faucet. Ordered it from eFaucets as in 3-5 biz days, after 12 days… “Oh, it’s back ordered to May first”… Now, the word on May 1st was “that shipment arrived and the vendor will ship on Monday or Tuesday“! Well, now it’s Wed May 9th and still no faucet!!!!!!!!!

pink goop for kitchen back splash

Back to the happy place – Monday, I stained the 5 wood doors that I bought at Second Use in Seattle. Matt has them at his garage to build the jams… The contractor, Matt, has put in all 7 of my new windows! Last night, I ordered two special windows for the front room. Everything is moving along despite a stomach flu and life’s interruptions!

There is light at the end of the remodel tunnel! Still finish the shower stall, seal the grout, re-install the toilet, fix the bureau for the vanity

patching ex-vanity wall

was so hard to get the old vanity out that we really dented up the wall board.  It was just crumbling so I kept cutting the “patch” area until there was solid wall board…  Pink goop is where back splash will go. Painted the ceiling semi-gloss and finished walls with kilzz…

next it’s the hall bathroom and the “studio” – I’m working at reminding myself to stop calling it the enclosed porch!
