Holiday Block Print Cards: Monday October 21st and 28th  from 6:00 to 8:00pm   

Block printing is a simple technique of carving into linoleum surface to make a relief design that are inked and printed for cards. This process is an excellent way of producing simple line designs.  Instructor provides many sample designs or students can create their own designs for holiday cards…  Ages:      14 and up   $35         #17367

Illustrating your interests Tuesday November 5th to December 10th from 6 to 8pm

Comprehensive drawing skills are taught in conjunction with participant selected subject interest. Participants have the opportunity to design long term projects while also be taught the skills needed to express themselves visually. A variety of media will be used: graphite/pencil, charcoal, pastels, pen & ink, colored pencils, watercolor pencils and a variety of paper in accord with the media to illustrate the subject matter of their choice. Developing their unique style of illustration from stylized to realistic will be emphasized.    $98         #17368

Participants – be thinking about what subject matter you want to illustrate.  We will be working from magazine or book illustrations, your own photographs, or other images.  Ages:      16 and up

Art inspired by Words:  Monday November 18th to December 16th from 6 to 8pm

Art projects will be inspired by words. Poetry, a descriptive passage or a quote will be used as a starting point for participants’ illustrations.  Conversely participants have the option of writing after completing the art project.  Art techniques/media will vary and include the following: watercolor, watercolor pencils, pen & ink, scratch paper, Sumi ink, etc…  Ages:  16 and up $79         #17369

Handmade Paper for Embellishing Holiday Projects Saturday October 19th 9 to 1:00pm Ages: 16 and up

Not only is making homemade paper a fun experience for you, but it’s a good way to recycle waste into wonderful possibilities such as envelopes, greeting cards, artwork and more.  Making paper is a fun way to express your creativity and homemade papers are the perfect additions to holiday greeting cards, gift tags, wrapping paper and more!” A supply list with directions for making a simple mold & deckle and press will be mailed with your registration confirmation.     $29         #17358

Free Form Acrylics: Saturday October 26th  9:30am to 2am    Ages:      16 and up

This is not your formal painting class… come and experiment with acrylic paints. You’ll learn to use various acrylic extenders and gels to create flowing, dripping, separating and other unusual methods of applying paint to substrate.    $45         #17363

Curve Stitching: Saturday November 9th from 9 to 1:00pAges:      16 and up 

Curve Stitching is a creative, practical activity with a strong mathematical background. Have no fear…  participants will start with simple easy patterns to create designs. These “stitch-by-stitch” thread patterns make a beautiful symmetrical design suitable for meditation.    $29         #17360

Artists Sketchbook  Project 2014 – Saturday  November 23rd from 9:00am to 3pm  Ages:      16 and up

Pages are created incorporating pencil, embroidery floss, art paper, paint, gesso, inks, crayons and other media. These can be adhered in the sketchbook for the 2013 Sketchbook Project [] or used to create a personal journal or a record of a particular event or holiday. Construct book pages using collage, stitching, windows, flaps, found objects, threads, beads and embroidery to create richly embellished pages. If you have an idea for a book, bring items you may want to put in your book/journal to use as inspiration – photos, dried flowers, leaves, tickets, letters, post cards, interesting poetry or prose, or any other kind of printed memorabilia.  Material list provided at registration.  $39         #17362

Journey to the Center, Personal Mandala   Ages: 16 and up Saturday December 7th   from 9am to 1pm Ages: 16 and up

The word “mandala” is a Sanskrit word that is over 2300 years old, translated as “circle” or “sacred center.” Circular patterns have been used throughout time in many cultures, including Tibetan and Native American, as tools for centering and healing. In this workshop, we explore the history of mandala patterns and create our own personal mandala, using oil pastel, colored pencil and collage. Using principles of geometry and symmetry present in nature, along with your own personal creativity, you will come away with new knowledge of yourself. This should be a time to let go, to play with color and design, and to have fun. All supplies included in class fee – list of embellishments to be provided.  $29         #17361
